This guide is for printing a visitor badge from RespaManager on a computer. If the badge doesn't print on a self-service kiosk, see Printing visitor card doesn't work.
RespaManager says printing succeeded, but nothing happens
The most common cause is that the browser blocks pop-ups. RespaManager needs a pop-up window to print the badge, so when pop-ups are blocked, printing stops without an error message.
The quickest fix: look at the address bar right after you try to print. If you see a blocked pop-up icon, click it and choose to always allow pop-ups from this site. Then try printing again.
If you don't see the icon, you can allow pop-ups in the browser settings. Add the same address you use to log in to RespaManager (for example company.respamanager.fi) to the allowed list.
- Google Chrome: three dots in the top-right corner → Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Pop-ups and redirects. Add the address under sites allowed to send pop-ups.
- Microsoft Edge: three dots in the top-right corner → Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Pop-ups and redirects. Add the address to the Allow list.
- Mozilla Firefox: three lines in the top-right corner → Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll to Permissions and add the address to the Exceptions of Block pop-up windows.
- Safari (Mac): Safari → Settings → Websites → Pop-up Windows. Choose Allow for the RespaManager address.
The setting stays on, so you only need to do this once per computer and browser.
Pop-ups are allowed, but the badge still doesn't print
Go through these in order. The cause is usually one of the first three.
- Printer power and lights. Make sure the printer is on and no error light is on or blinking.
- Badge roll. Open the printer cover and check that the roll is in place and hasn't run out. How to replace it: Replace the visitor badge printer roll.
- Selected printer. If the browser opens a print window, check that the Brother badge printer is selected and not, for example, a regular office printer. Depending on the computer's settings, the printer may also be selected by default, in which case no window appears.
- USB cable. The printer connects to the computer with a USB cable. Check that it's firmly connected at both ends, and try another USB port if needed.
- Print queue. A stuck print job can block the next ones.
- Windows: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, select the Brother printer and Open print queue.
- Mac: System Settings → Printers & Scanners, select the Brother printer and Printer Queue.
- Printer driver. If the printer doesn't appear in the computer's printer list at all, download and install the driver from Brother's support site (QL-700).
If nothing helped
Email us at support@systam.fi. We can sort it out faster if you tell us:
- which browser you use
- what happens on screen when you choose print
- whether a light is on in the printer or an error message is shown
Once pop-ups are allowed, badges print normally right when you sign visitors in.
